Christmas Toys
Description: We used club funds to purchase toys for underprivileged children. At our Christmas party, we combined the party and dinner with toy wrapping. The gifts are distributed from the office of one of our members, Dr. Joy Enriquez.
Participation: This project was fully supported by our club. This year, twenty-five members and their family members met to socialize, have dinner and wrap gifts. It was a fun event!
Results: We were able to give away over 400 gifts to needy children. Our committee chair for this project bought toys from overstocks all during the year, so we were able to purchase our toys at deeply discounted prices. The gifts ranged from soccer balls, basketballs, footballs, to games and toddler toys. A key to doing this project successfully is to have a good toy buyer, buying gift items at favorable pricing throughout the year.
Summary: This project was a lot of fun, and gave our members an opportunity to socialize and do something very generous for our community, in the Christmas spirit. The project was publicized in our local paper, which was good public relations for our club. Our total expense for this project was $1524.
