Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival Fundraiser
Description: Each year, our club has a booth at the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival in which we sell clam chowder in bread bowls. The purpose of this project is to raise money for community programs, as well as enhance the image of Rotary in our community and provide a fellowship opportunity for our members.
Participation: This year, 35 members of our club along with a bevy of InterActers participated in this event. We assigned the various tasks to club members; buying supplies, setting up, making bread bowls, cooking, serving and selling chowder.
Results: We had a wonderful time working together as a club on this project. Due to unseasonably warm weather, our sales of hot soup weren’t as good as we had hoped. Our net profit was about $9,500.
Summary: This activity is an excellent way for all club members to participate in a fund-raising activity. The fellowship and social aspects of the activity are well worth the effort. The funds raised are used for local programs, such as scholarships, community improvements, etc.
